Dear General Practitioners, Medical Specialists and Paramedics,

We are happy to announce the Mini-Conference ‘Caribbean Colorectal Cancer Screening’ with walking dinner, organized by Fundashon Prevenshon and NASKHO on November 9th 18.30h till 22.00h in the Renaissance Hotel.
We warmly invite you to participate in this event.
Description of the Mini-Conference ‘Caribbean Colorectal Cancer Screening’
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common type of gastrointestinal cancer and the third most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide1. The incidence in men is higher than in women, approximately 23 versus 16 per 100 000 respectively2. In 2018 over 850 000 people died of CRC. The numbers are expected to increase over time, with data showing an expected 3 million active cases by 2040. This burden of disease makes CRC an important global health issue.
The goal of population screening is to prevent the occurrence of colorectal cancer (the screening detects a pre-stage) and to find existing cases. Prevention is achieved by identifying developed polyps (advanced adenomas). The Caribbean Prevention Center, Fundashon Prevenshon (FP; Willemstad, Curaçao) has launched population screening on Curaçao in June 2020.

During the mini-conference presentation prof. Evelien Dekker, a gastroenterologist at the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, will present the implementation of colorectal cancer screening (CRC-S) in the Netherlands in the period 2014-2018.

In addition results of current participation in the CRC-S program of the FP and FIT tests as well as the results of colonoscopies will be presented. The pathology of participants in the coloscopy program of FP also will be shown.
