Clinical Clerkships
The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is an affiliated teaching hospital of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and, in collaboration with NASKHO, offers a wide range of clinical clerkships. These are available to students in the second and third year of the Master’s program across all clinical specialties, as well as in extramural care, general practice, and public health.
CMC also provides a unique opportunity for local medical students to gain hands-on experience within the Curaçao healthcare system during dedicated clinical rotations.
Eligibility and Placement
- Students in the second year of the Master’s program at UMCG (M2) may complete their full one year clerkship at CMC , following selection through UMCG’s affiliate hospital placement process.
- Students in their 3rd year of the Master's program at UMCG (M3) may complete their final elective long and short clerkships (M3) at CMC subject to availability.
- Priority for clerkship placements—after UMCG students—is given to medical students from Curaçao who are studying at other Dutch Universities (In view of their potential return to the Island as future medical doctors and for getting acquainted with local healthcare).
